2013 Inter-Association Navigational Rally Challenge

Image

16th/17th November 2013 - Scottish Borders

Border Ecosse Car Club are thrilled to announce, on behalf of the Scottish Association of Car Clubs, that the 2013 Inter-Association Navigational Rally Challenge will be contested at the Early Winter Navigational Rally, on 16th/17th November 2013.

As the only road event in the UK with entries open to all 13 of the MSA's Regional Associations, we look forward to welcoming rally crews from across the country, to the very same roads that since 1997 have been made famous by our own Jim Clark Rally - the only closed road stage rally in mainland Great Britain.

This is the second time the Early Winter has played host to the Inter-Association - the first being in 2002, when it was won by the Association of Northern Car Clubs, beating off teams from the East of Scotland, London Counties, Northern Ireland, North East & Cumbria, South East, and North East Midlands. This year the Association of South Western Motor Clubs enter as defending champions - can they retain their crown, or will another Association emerge victorious?...

Route details are still being finalised, but provisionally competitors can look forward to 180 miles of the finest roads in the Scottish Borders, all on Map 74, starting and finishing near Kelso, with a halfway fuel halt in Duns, all for an entry fee of £50.

Please make a note of the event in your diary. Accommodation is being arranged through the Borders Tourist Board, with lots of excellent choices available. Plans are already well advanced for what promises to be an excellent night of rallying, with regulations and entries expected to be made available in the coming months.

We look forward to extending you a warm Scottish welcome on the 16th/17th November!

GMSC Aquarius 2013 Results

The Aquarius Navigational Rally made a triumphant return to the Scottish motorsport calendar after a 7 year absence. It proved to be a night of impressive debuts, with the immaculate Group 4 spec Audi Quattro of John Clark/Steve Turnbull claiming victory on its much-anticipated maiden outing, having been pushed all the way by first-time driver Sally Skinner and defending event winner Ewan Leeming. All Expert crews cleaned the boards, with the only only other crew to do so being Neil Thompson/Katie Stimpson, taking the Non-Expert win ahead of the Renault Clio of reigning SACC Champion Neil Jones and former CoC of the event Alan Cowan.

Father/daughter crew Donald Urquhart/Eilidh Urquhart emerged as first Novices, while University of Edinburgh students cleaned-up in the supporting Clubman section, with 1st Overall going to Nick Roberts/Craig Horsburgh, and Novice falling to David Haverson/Stephen Walls.

Nuit Blanche 2013 Results

ROUND 2 – NUIT BLANCHE NAVIGATIONAL RALLY – HADDINGTON – 23rd FEBRUARY 2013

The Nuit Blanche Navigational Rally provided a thrilling contest, with Sally Skinner/Ewan Leeming
cleaning the event to clinch a narrow win from Jon Huffer/Richard Crozier, who dropped a single but
ultimately crucial minute. The result marked Skinner's maiden overall victory in only her second ever
rally, while Leeming's triumph was his fourth in this event, now just one short of the record for this 48-
year-old classic.
Top seeds Dave Brown/Joel Haylock were also in contention for the win when they suffered a
puncture just after halfway, but impressively changed it without dropping any time, to stay in the hunt.
However, 15 minutes dropped on the penultimate section would scupper their chances, relegating
them to third. Two other crews managed clean sheets - Nick Roberts/Craig Horsburgh claiming NonExpert, while Jamie Thomson/Gary Brown successfully defended the historic 'Wooden Spoon Award'
for first EUMSC Novice crew, having swapped seats since last year's running.
